Defending our Religion

Are you proud of your family? Your Catholic family? Are you an advocate? An apostle? Do you share your faith with others?

We are all missionaries. We, the Knights of Columbus, are very proud of our church and we seek to share our love for our church and community by serving others.

Share the joy with others!

Take time out each day for prayer. Be thankful for your blessings and ask for help in serving others. Read a passage from the bible and think about it. Share the good news with others. Talk to other men of the church and ask them to join you in the Knights. Encourage others to join the patriotic Fourth Degree.

How do we build our church? One act at a time. Brick by brick we add structure to our parish and make it a welcoming home for non-Catholics and returning Catholics. Evangelize.

Happy Birthday Council 10910

Hip, Hip, Hurrah! Paul J. Trageser Council 10910 is now 20 years old. We have come a long way since our early years and there have been many men, women, and family members who have made it all possible.

We are not content to rest on what we have done. It was just a beginning for us. Our legacy is still forming and may never be complete. There is always more that we can do to build church.

So, as we mark our 20th birthday on June 17th, let us rededicate ourselves to the values and principles of our order; charity, unity and fraternity,

A new council year is underway and your Grand Knight, Matt Raynor, is working on the things we need to do to best organize our council. If you are not an officer, you can still assist by volunteering to help with our many programs. Let Matt know that you are available. email Matt

Bocce Event Thanks

Thirty teams entered into the competition, three from Orange County. In addition to the bocce tournament, there were fun family activities and prizes. The Orange Pumpkins were comprised of Molly Coolidge, Dave Leperi Sr, Javi Guzman and Lana Morgan. The tournament format was single elimination.

“We are very thankful to St. Thomas More and the Knights of Columbus for including us in their game day, ” said Colleen Lanigan, Special Olympics Orange County Coordinator.

The Orange County Special Olympics announced that the Orange County bocce team, the Pumpkins, won their bracket at the first annual St. Thomas More Parish Game Day on Sunday, May 6.

The Pumpkins advanced through two matches to enter the finals of their bracket, and won easily in only five of the allocated six rounds of play.

St. Patrick’s Day Social

We had a great time at the St. Patrick’s Day dinner and social. Music was good and we even had a bagpiper. Three lovely ladies joined us from Raleigh to share in the festivities and dance for us. The Keeling and Pilarski families were in the kitchen to provide a traditional meal of corned beef and cabbage. Peter O’Grady served as Master of Ceremonies to introduce the guests and entertainment. Many other brother Knights assisted with serving beverages, food and busing.

Late Nite Catechism

We are about to host Sister Strikes Again!: Late Nite Catechism. It is a hilarious comedy lets us laugh at ourselves as we explore our catechism.

Tickets are now on sale and we had a good first weekend. More tickets are still available and you should be first in line to support this project. The box office will be open again this weekend (Feb 25-26th), and March 3-4. Can you help by serving in the box office after each mass? The council asks that you sign up now so that they know you will be there. Sure, you can walk up and say, “I’m here to help” However, that doesn’t help plan for full support of each mass.

Please let Tom Stoffel know your availability after masses.

Please remember this is a council event, and everyone of us needs to promote this event for us to succeed. If anyone would like some tickets to sell on your own, I will be happy to oblige. We will be serving our dinners on February 24th, March 9th, and March 30th. We are serving from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This year we are adding baked fish for those of you who are cutting back on fried food.

Why not make it a family affair. Bring everyone. While you are at it, make sure you let your neighbors know that this event is open to everyone in our community. We also offer take out. You can pick up a family package and take it home to feed the family and friends.

Please support this Sunday’s Pancake Breakfast as a volunteer, a patron, or both! Why not tell your neighbors about the St. Thomas More Church Pancake Breakfast? The price is right and the breakfast might be considered better than that in local restaurants. After all, it’s home cooking by family.

Some of your neighbors may even be Catholic and away from the church for years. The thought of an invitation from a trusted friend and memories of church breakfasts, events, and feasts may be rekindled. Help bring them home.

We continue to win over more Pancake Breakfast fans with the use of real dinnerware. You get that clinking, clanking sound! Your coffee even tastes better in a real cup!

We appreciate the extra turnout from Squires and TYM to help with the extra busing and dishwashing. Continued help from Men’s Club PB veterans has also been essential to our success.

For this coming Sunday, we will still need extra person-power and teen-power to staff all the kitchen, serving line, and dining hall duties, and to help with setup and teardown.

We will not be able to set up the hall on Saturday evening. We’ll need early help at 7am Sunday to arrange tables and chairs. The tables and chairs will remain out from a large dinner event on Saturday evening, but it will still take a lot of effort to rearrange for our use. We ask that Knights attending 7:30am mass please consider arriving at 7am to help us set up our tables and chairs before mass.

Kitchen, serving, and dining hall help is needed for Sunday.
- Cooking help please arrive by 7 am.
- Setup help to complete setup of the dining hall, please arrive 7:30-8 am (table & amp; chair arrangement at 7am)
- Busing crews. Please arrive by 8am so we can organize our effort
- Serving and cashier, please arrive by 8:20am.

We serve until 11am… sometimes a few minutes after.

What do we need the most? We need cleanup and tear-down help, especially with dishwasher duty 11 am ~12:30 pm. This has been a very successful fundraiser for STM School, the parish, and our council. Thank you for all that you are doing to make it a success.
