We’re back! The Knights of Columbus members have put together another outstanding series of Lenten Fish Fries for the Friends and Family Hall. Everyone is welcome to join in and enjoy a great fried fish dinner.
We’re back! The Knights of Columbus team has put together another outstanding series of Lenten Fish Fries for the St. Thomas More Church Friends and Family Hall. Everyone is welcome to join in and enjoy a great fried fish dinner.
The dates are February 20, March 13th, and March 27, 2015. Time is 5 pm for doors to open and we keep going until 8 pm or until the fish is gone. But, don’t worry, we often restock with more fish, as needed, to take care of everyone. Cost is $8.
For smaller kids we offer split plates for two. For seniors and light eaters, try our one fillet plate for $7.
There is plenty of free parking and this event is open to everyone. You’ll see cars pulling off the stalled traffic on US 15-501 and heading up our driveway all night. The smell of frying fish draws them in every year and our hospitality to our neighbors brings them back for the second and third fish fry.
We are preparing the food just in time for the crowds to arrive. That means you will see a gentle wisp of steam coming from your delivered-to-the-table plate. Or, if you prefer, we can serve you from our beautiful serving area. We want your dinner to be ready for you when you are ready for it.
You get a generous portion!
In a hurry and can’t stay to eat with friends? We have take out plates standing by and we can fix a plate for one or more. You are sure to see someone carrying out a stack of five or more clamshell plates as they head to a nearby firehouse, home, or fun event with friends.
What is on the plate? We have two whiting fish fillets, hush puppies, coleslaw, french fries, and beverage.

Our fish is a fresh as you can get and provided through Captain John’s Dockside Seafood and is prepared at St. Thomas More Church Friends and Family Hall by the Knights of Columbus. You’ll be amazed at how good it is.
If you have a VERY LARGE GROUP, let us know a week before and maybe we can accommodate your special needs.

Tom Stoffel has advertised for help. “We need many hands for setting up, cooking, serving, selling tickets, busing tables, keeping refreshments filled, serving wine, and cleanup & tear down. Especially cleanup!” he said.
Tom advised that the Knights and Catholic Daughters get started at 2:30 pm. They could use many helpers to unload supplies, set up the kitchen, start preparing for cooking, and to set up the hall for dining.
Can’t help with prep and setup? There is much left to be done and you can help cook. You just need your apron and a big smile. Yes, it is hard work, but you’ll have fun, too.
From 5 – 8 pm, Knights are needed to serve, sell tickets, bus tables, and serve beverages.
Tom wanted you to know that he also needs needs help with cleanup and tear down for about an hour starting at 8 pm.

At St. Thomas More Church, the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Daughters were preparing and serving whiting fish for the parish. The customers came in to dine with us and some came in to pick up a take-out dinner for their family.
If you missed it, you missed a delicious dinner. Remember that there is just one more dinner before Easter.

What is Lent without our traditional fish fry? The Knights have been doing it for all of the years at our current church location, but its history goes way back to the ’50’s and our Gimghoul Road Church.
We will be serving our dinners on February 24th, March 9th, and March 30th. We are serving from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This year we are adding baked fish for those of you who are cutting back on fried food.
Why not make it a family affair. Bring everyone. While you are at it, make sure you let your neighbors know that this event is open to everyone in our community. We also offer take out. You can pick up a family package and take it home to feed the family and friends.

We are about to start up the fish fry pots to host another annual parish fish fry. Jerry is looking over his equipment, ordering fish and trimmings, and getting ready to go to work. This year, Matt Raynor and Gene Keeling will lead the event so that Jerry can relax a little.
The schedule is set for March 11 and 25. A third fish fry will be held on April 15th.
We need everyone to come on by to help in the kitchen. There are a lot of things done behind the scenes. None are glamorous, especially defrosting hundreds of pounds of whitefish. Then there is the breading, sorting, storing, and cooker helper chores. There is a job for everyone.
We just closed the doors after serving over 220 dinners! That is 100 more than our first fish fry. We started with 100 lbs of fish and had to go and get another 20 pounds. We were running out as early as 6 p.m. and people patiently waited in line for more fish to arrive. […]

Everything worked out well. We cooked the extra 20 pounds and served everyone. We sold out again.
Get ready for the next one and come early! The food is great and there is plenty on your plate. Remember that we cook it just as you arrive. It is a restaurant quality meal, served piping hot!
Proceeds benefit the parish and will go to paying off the mortgage.

Here we go again! Our second fish fry is going to be an even greater success than the last one. How big a success was it? Well, we SOLD OUT! Sold 130 meals and we could have sold more.
It will be in the school gym. Time is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Be on time and you are sure to get your share. We only charge $7 per plate. Have kids? We will give you a spare plate to share. The plate has two large pieces of whitefish from the cool oceans off Argentina. That is why it tasted so good and we sold out.
Now that everyone has tasted the fish and know how great it is, we are expecting a large crowd.
Profits go to the church mortgage retirement.
